Saturday I finished my PADI Open Water class (translation: I can SCUBA dive to 18m/60ft) Thought it would freak me out too much but that lasted about 2min. then it started to feel so much better. Now i think it has become my next money hole sport. Some people may get that right away but what i mean is now i have yet another sport gross amounts of cash to get into it; there is the training, the additional training, the equipment (all is not necessary but nice to have just the same), then each dive costs something getting there getting air... but it's all good, other than the money thing that is. o, and a camera so there can be photos to add one of these days. The training was trade for his website: www.samosdiving.com so that was nice. Now that the summer is over the water isn't that much colder and hopefully we can log in some more diving soon. Planning on getting in there again Tuesday, weather permitting that is. The visibility is GREAT in the Med! where we are there aren't too many things that are super interesting too see (no reefs or anything like that) but it is pretty wild seeing grass beds and rock outcroppings teeming with fish of more varieties than i could keep up with, starfish, sponge, coral, eel, octopus, and so much more sea life that i haven't begun to notice. The sites we have been to so far have been pretty basic anyway it was training and not a bad thing to not become overly distracted by everything around you when learning about the equipment and readjusting to the environment is probably a better thing to be doing. We did swim out to an old rusty anchor that was kind of fun. That's about all from Samos for now. Nothing too involved or long winded. |
